1.  Use an app/podcast to guide you

The first of our home workout hacks is rather than investing in a personal trainer, you could download a fitness app or podcast. The recent rise in the health-conscious trend means that there are now loads of apps and podcasts that you can use at home for the sweet price of nothing.


For example, as the name suggests, the 7-Minute Workout app, gives you a quick circuit of activities to follow. Each exercise lasts just 30 seconds, with a ten-second break in the between activities. A short, intense burst of exercise is the best way to sneak some much-needed fitness into your daily routine.   

2.  Create a workout space

Dedicate some space in your home to daily exercises and workouts. You could use a spare room or even the corner of your living space for this function. Make sure that the area has everything you need from equipment to mats. The idea here is to make sure that the area is fit for purpose, much like a gym would be. That way, when you enter that space, it will be the ideal environment to get your sweat on and start boosting your fitness.

3.  Invest in quality equipment

While we’re on the topic of equipment, remember that it’s worth investing in quality pieces for your home. You should tailor the pieces you buy to your specific health-related needs. For instance, should you have back problems, you could get a brace that allows for full range of motion. There are many similarly useful products on the market to cater for almost every physical need. Having an extra level of support will prevent you from injuring yourself during your exercise routines. 4.  Create a schedule (and stick to it)

Exercise needs to be a weekly habit. You may find it hard to be as active as possible if you’re not a regimented person. One study, published in the US National Library of Medicine, found that it takes around six weeks for your active routine to become a habit. That means that you will have to persevere with it for that period before it feels completely natural. The same study also suggested that fun, short activities are ideal for fitness novices when they first start out.

Keeping track of your progress may sound like a pain, but it could motivate you to keep going. In truth, getting into a proper fitness routine takes a little time.
